iO: A Journal of New American Poetry

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

iO is always seeking excellent poetry to feature in its issues. While Editors reserve the right to solicit work, majority of our poems come through general submissions.

A few general rules:

We have moved to an annual reading period model. You can submit up to five poems through this submission manager between September 1 and December 1. We ask you send only one batch at a time.

Please only send us word (.doc or .docx), RFT (.rtf), or PDF (.pdf) files. PLEASE Include all your work in a single document.

We encourage and welcome simultaneous submissions, and ask that you notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Please read the journal to get a sense of what we publish.

A cover note is nice, though not required.

It might take us two or three months to get back to you, but we do our best to make it less than that. Please do not query about work until three months have passed. We promise we are eager to get to your work!

We invite you to connect with us on Facebook by "liking" iO: A Journal of New American Poetry--it's the best way to stay up to date.

If we select your work for publication, we will ask for First North American Serial Rights.
